Crystal Paints Paving Paint Label

PAVING PAINT

Tough Polyurethane Semi-Gloss finish which repels water and oils. Suitable for interior and exterior concrete and timber surfaces including pathways, driveways, showrooms, patios, workshops, etc.

Application by brush or roller, if spraying follow with roller.

Recoat and walk on 30 mins - 3 hours depending on conditions.

Before Painting:

New concrete should be weathered for 2-3 months before painting.

Surfaces should be dry, dirt and dust free, grease, oils, polishes, and flaking paint removed.

Instructions:

  • Clean concrete by acid etching it. To do this mix 1 part Hydrochloric acid to 1 part water and apply with a solvent resistant broom/brush. Allow an etching time of 1 hour. Use a mask, goggles, gloves, and footwear when using Hydrochloric Acid.

  • Once the acid etch has finished bubbling, frothing, foaming etc the concrete will need to be high pressure cleaned afterwards. Make sure you remove all acid prior to applying paint as the paint will react to the acid.

  • After the concrete has been cleaned and is dry you can apply your first coat of Paving Paint. For steep, very smooth or exterior surfaces Crystal Paints recommends using Crystal Paints Anti-Slip fine grit.

  • Sprinkle the Anti-Slip grit on to your first coat of paint while it is still wet.

  • When your first coat is dry (about 30mins-3hours after application) you can apply your second coat.

  • Let your second coat cure for at least 24 hours before driving on it. Full curing time is up to 3 weeks.

Additional Information:

Coverage is 6 to 13 square metres per litre.

Wash up in mineral turpentine.

If you are going to spray, you may need to thin the paint with mineral turps depending on the spray unit.

This paint can be used on timber however the timber will require a primer or undercoat. We recommend Crystal Paints All Purpose Undercoat or Oil Based Timber Primer.

Clear coat & concrete sealer label

CLEAR COAT & SEALER
CONCRETE, PAVING, STONE & SLATE

Tough clear finish which repels water and oils. Gives the surface being applied to a constant wet look. Suitable for exterior concrete including pathways, driveways, patios, retaining walls, etc.

Application by brush, roller or spray.

Recoat time 2 hours depending on weather conditions.

PREPARATION: Surface must be thoroughly dry and free from all grease, oil and fuel contaminants, efflorescence (salt crystals) and other foreign stains and soiling. Ensure the surface is clean and most importantly completely DRY.
(48 hour minimum from last time the concrete/pavement was wet). All surfaces must be acid etched with a minimum 50% hydrochloric acid to 50% water ratio.

MOISTURE TEST & INSPECTION: Put a 300mm x 300mm piece of black plastic or rubber mat on the area you want to coat at the hottest part of the day. After at least 2 hours, remove and check if any condensation is there on the underside of the plastic, or the surface has become darker, then it is too wet to paint. You will need to let it dry further and redo test until NO moisture is detected. New concrete has to cure for at least 30 days.  If area has been previously sealed, ensure the coating is compatible. If in doubt, remove existing coating.

POROSITY CHECK: Place a few drops of water on the surface you wish to test. Leave for 2 minutes and dab dry with paper towel. If darker wet spots remain, the surface is porous and can be sealed. If the surface does not darken or show signs of penetration, it is too dense and should not be sealed.

APPLICATION: Temperature during application - recommend between 10°C and 32°C. Brush or Roll. Use medium to long nap roller or a solvent resistant broom. Clean your equipment with Crystal Clear Solvent. Spraying - For conventional spray application, thin as necessary with Crystal Clear Solvent. Do not apply if rain is expected within 48 hours.

RECOAT: Minimum of 2 hours between coats.

COVERAGE: Coverage will depend on the type of concrete, how it was finished and how it was prepared. Over open / porous concrete, You may only get a couple of m2 per litre. Over steel, troweled or sealed concrete, You can expect 8 - 10 m2 per litre.

THINNING & CLEAN UP: For thinning and clean up use Crystal Clear Solvent.

PRE-TEST: Referring to previously sealed surfaces - small patch should be tested to ensure compatibility and adhesion.

PPE: We recommend you use gloves, protective clothing, eye protection, breathing apparatus, protective footwear and have adequate ventilation. IF YOU ARE UNSURE ABOUT ANYTHING TO DO WITH THIS PRODUCT, DO NOT USE IT AND CONTACT YOUR CRYSTAL STOCKIST OR THE FACTORY DIRECT 07 3341 3566

Product is stable under normal storage conditions.  If stored for longer than 12 months, it is recommended that it is rechecked for suitability in the intended application.
